About

Pocket Verdict started as a group chat where a few of us kept sending each other screenshots and complaining about touch controls. At some point it made more sense to write things down properly, so we turned the habit into a small site. Everything you read here comes from actually holding the phone and playing.

We pick games across genres on purpose. Puzzles are easy to cover, but people also want to know how an RPG handles grinding on a commute, or whether a racing game cooks the phone after twenty minutes. So we spread our attention around and try to be fair to each type.

When we choose what to review, we lean on a mix of reader suggestions, curiosity, and whatever we can't stop playing. We don't take money to feature a title, and we say when something bored us. A dull game gets a dull score.

The team is small and that's the point. Fewer people, more time per game, longer sessions before we write. If a review reads like we rushed it, tell us and we'll go back in.

Mikkel Sørensen — Mikkel has been tinkering with phones and playing on them since the days of single-button arcade ports. He handles most of the long-session testing and edits everything before it goes live.
