Big Bass Drop

★★★★☆ 4.4 Editor rating

Big Bass Drop looks simple in a screenshot and then quietly hooks you. You lower a line, watch fish drift past in patterns, and tap at the right moment to catch them as they line up. The whole thing runs on timing and reading the water, and there's a satisfying little snap of feedback every time you nail a catch.

Controls are one-thumb friendly, which I appreciated on the train. You barely need to move your hand, and the game never asks for precise dragging or multi-touch gymnastics. The difficulty ramps by giving fish trickier movement rather than throwing more buttons at you, so it stays approachable even as it gets faster.

On battery it's gentle. I played roughly forty minutes and the phone stayed cool, which tracks with how light the visuals are. My one gripe is that the background music loops a bit tight, so I muted it after a while and played to a podcast instead. Still, it's the kind of game I keep opening in short bursts.
