Which game genres actually drain your battery
I started logging battery levels before and after play because I got tired of guessing. The pattern turned out clearer than I expected, and it lines up neatly with genre. It's not about the name on the box, it's about what the phone is doing per second.
Racers and 3D action games are the heavy hitters. Constant motion, high frame rates, and bright effects push the processor and the screen at once. Twenty minutes can leave the phone noticeably warm. Turn-based RPGs are lighter in bursts but sneaky over long sessions, since you tend to play them for an hour without noticing.
The kind ones are puzzles, cozy sims, and slow adventures. Static screens, dark palettes, and low frame demands mean the battery barely moves. On an OLED phone a dark adventure game is close to free power-wise.
My advice is simple. Check for a graphics or frame cap option before a long session, drop brightness a notch, and know your genre. A racer needs a charger nearby. A cozy bakery sim does not.
