Emberfall Chronicle
Emberfall Chronicle is the game I expected to bounce off and ended up sinking two weeks into. It's a proper turn-based RPG with a party, skill trees, and a world map you slowly open up. The writing carries it more than the combat does, honestly, with side characters who actually change over time.
The combat is thoughtful rather than flashy. You queue moves, watch positioning matter, and learn which enemies punish greed. On phone this works well because turns give your thumbs a rest. Grinding exists but the game is generous with it, so I never felt stuck behind a wall.
Battery is where it asks something of you. Long sessions warm the phone and the drain is real, so I kept the brightness a notch down. There's a battery-saver graphics option buried in settings that helped a lot, and I wish they'd surfaced it sooner.
What we liked
- Writing that makes side quests worth doing
- Turn-based combat friendly to touch input
- Battery-saver graphics mode is a lifesaver
