Cozy games that respect your time
Cozy sims are supposed to relax you, but too many of them sneak in timers and daily nudges that turn the whole thing into a second job. I've been hunting for the ones that stay genuinely low-pressure, and there are more than you'd think.
The good ones let you play at your own pace. Progress waits for you instead of expiring. Harborlight Bakery mostly gets this right, with gentle wait timers that suggest coming back later rather than punishing you for leaving. That's the line I care about.
Signs of a healthy cozy game: no aggressive login streaks, no timers that hurt your progress if you miss them, and menus that don't guilt-trip you. If the game feels like it's tugging your sleeve, it's not really relaxing.
These are also the kindest genre for your battery, which is a nice bonus. A calm game you can put down anytime and that barely touches your charge is exactly what a phone is good at.
